Kelly McKernan is a fine artist and illustrator currently based in Nashville, Tennessee. Kelly obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kennesaw State University, with a concentration in drawing and painting.
Kelly’s current body of work examines the personal growth that results from internal struggle. Her ethereal women are often battling the opposing forces of natural inclination and cognitive reasoning, or they may be seen in their moment of resolution, finally understanding their strengths, weaknesses, and desires. The multi-layered settings in Kelly’s work reflect her own fascinations and discoveries as a woman with a penchant for idealism, on a journey toward self-awareness.
She has been exhibiting her work with numerous galleries since 2009, including notable spaces such as Gallery 1988, Spoke Art, Arch Enemy Arts, and Subtext Gallery. She also began her work as an illustrator in the same year and has illustrated three children’s book to date. Kelly is also a member of the PRISMA Artist Collective and a current Grumbacher Featured Artist.
