Caitlin Hackett is an Oakland based artist and professional illustrator. Her artwork has long been inspired by Mythological tropes and contemporary environmental concerns alike. Growing up alongside the Pacific Ocean and redwood forests of northern California, Caitlin connected with nature from a young age, spending her childhood hiking, camping and swimming in the wilderness of Humboldt County CA.
Leaving the wilderness of her youth behind to study art in New York, Caitlin graduated from Pratt Institute with her BFA in 2009, while at Pratt she studied Fine Art with a focus in Drawing.
Caitlin’s love of wild places and wild creatures is often merged in her illustrative style imagery with traditional fairy tale and mythogical allegories to create surreal new narratives relevant to today’s enviromental crises and the fragile relationship between humanity and the natural world.
